Johnsy Boy-WTF???

I sat there in disbelief at the Bill Bixby character in this otherwise unremarkable Western.
First, there was his idea to brand CC- that seemed to come out of nowhere...
Then, that dainty Johnsy Boy uniform and his throwing of the cat had me thinking WTF is this dude about?
Finally, the scene where he first begs CC not to brand him, and then grabs the poker and starts branding himself, running and howling like a maniac into the woods, had me literally ROTFLOL!!!
Frank Gorshin's description of his suicide completed the hilarity of the tale of the sado-masochistic dandy boy known as Johnsy Boy Hood.
The only other character that comes close to this weirdness is that lunatic from "Beyond The Valley of the Dolls", who blows everybody away at the end, but everyone in that movie (written by Roger Ebert!)was crazy, anyway.
