they don't make em


I can remember seeing movies like this as a kid, usually the second feature of a double bill. Funny thing is, when my brother and I get together and recall scenes from old films we saw years ago, it's movies like this one we most fondly remember. They don't make em like this anymore.

Yes it is a tale of rowdy, sweaty, over-acting characters but it has something most films today don't have; grit and no political/social/economic message. One can't escape these brutal elements even in cartoons now days. Besides, I like a survival story...isn't that what we're all engaged in anyway?

1957 is my year of birth, might as well be 1857 when relating to contemporary taste. As far as it concerns me, I wouldn't trade this single movie Rage, for all the glossy DVDs in a WalMart budget bin or all the Hollywood monotony at a closing sale from a forgotten Blockbuster store. There, I feel much better.
