I've noted that the "Trivia" entry for this film says that Diane Clare's voice was dubbed - this comes as a surprise to me, as I've seen the film many times but it's never been apparent to me. Does anyone know why she was dubbed? And does anyone know what became of her? She was rather good here as the spirited, no-nonsense Sylvia.

shareShe is actually dubbed. I just watched the movie (brilliant btw) and as I often watch movies with headphones, I could clearly hear the difference between her dialogues and the rest of the cast (the vicar was also dubbed). The film has obviously been shot with direct sound (with all the little details and crispy sounds that make that kind of shooting much more vivid) and when she talked, the tone was different and there was no background noise.
Maybe she couldn't be heard clearly in the recording and has been asked then to re-record her lines. It happens a lot.

If You are dubbing yourself it is not really being dubbed I feel.Of all the books on Hammer or Horror Films I have read I cannot remember any ever mentioning her being dubbed so I think it is unlikely.
This is interesting, because her voice had a similar tone to.those in Japanese monster movies. O can not recall exactly, but I just got done watching this film knowing I'd heard that voice before.
