you should be French to look at it
As a French, I think this is the best war movie that shows the action of the Resistance. It really looks real. Of course, some of the footage are not as realistic as the scene on the beach in Saving Private Ryan but the spirit is here. For the first time, it shows the French as they were. Most of us remained silent until ... until the day you came. This was the passive resistance. People survived hopping for something which was the entrance of a liberation army in their village. A small passage displays it really well, the man who goes out in the streets with his pigs.
Of course you can say that Patton / Douglas is a miscast but look at Colonel Rol, look at Leclerc. I grew up with the image of this men as the true incarnation of their character.
6,6 ??? what a pity. look at it in French !!! You would like to see a 1966 movie with good dubbing? com'on, let's be realistic. Sometimes, you want the butter, the money of the butter and to f^^^^ the cheese seller.
