Is this film losely based on some actor in real life?

I was wondering if this film was loosely based on some actor in real life because a Star is Born is suppose to be based on Greta Garbo and her manger who came to Hollywood with her. Apparently Hollywood was not interested in Garbo's manger, just her. It shattered him greatly and it Garbo because she was in love with him.

The movie is a ripoff male version of All About Eve, so it's probably not based on anyone in particularly, just a certain type of actor.

The book was a lot better. One character in.it was clearly a caricature of John Wayne, the lead one made me think vaguely of Frank.Sinatra.
