Great movie !

Replace those dinosaurs with stone age variants like cave bears and super cats, and I would give this movie a 8.5 rating.

I know this movie is not documentary, but a more accurate view of Stone Age would be better. Still I like what this film is and I gave 7/10 rating. What suprised me in this movie that cavemen did not actually speak, only communicated with simple words and more with gestures and it made this movie great.

Dude, the movie is fantasy, it does not matter that it places humans and dinos together unless your a paleontologist or a massive nit picker.

You can always say it's set in an alternate reality/ parallel dimension too, where dinos and humans did/do co-exist.

You could say the same about any movie with a goof in it. It's a ridiculous argument. There's nothing in the movie to suggest that it's anywhere/any time other than a million years bc on earth, as the title and the narration at the beginning specifies.

No, no, I agreee with the OP. Lose the anachronistic dinosaurs which went extinct 65 mya.

The final eons of the last Ice Age were fraught with gigantic mammals over North and South America, northern Europe, and Asia. There were 101 ways for paleo-man to die out in the open. While there were gigantic game mammals to provide a bounty of meat, these were also much more dangerous to hunt with the primitive weapons of the time. Don't worry about the big game, worry about the gigantic mammalian predators, almost all out of your darkest and scariest Brothers' Grimm, Hansel and Gretel nightmares.

North American lion
North American panther/cougar
Sabre tooth cat
Dire wolf
Gray wolf
Short faced bear
Grizzly bear (smaller than short faced bear)
possible remnants of the giant, carnivorous, ground-running killer birds (imagine an ostrich with a much thicker neck, much bigger head, bigger and sharp beak for ripping and tearing flesh)

Jefferson ground sloth (not a predator but dangerous when surprised and cornerned; about the size of a T.Rex)
Woodlands bison (ancestors of the plains bison and no less dangerous when spooked and stampeded)
Woolly mammoth
Columbus mammoth

So you see a remake of One Million Years B.C. could be aptly retitled, ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND YEARS B.C. It would extremely interesting and riveting. Believe me when I say that old-fashioned stop gap motion animal props would look far more realistic and enjoyable than CGI prehistoric mammals. CGI has advanced but still cannot depict absolute realness. It's still too easy to notice CGI effects.

I really like this movie. Although it's all about fiction and none about science (dinosaurs and people living in the same time, prehistoric women being sexy chicks). But it is truly majestical. In the artistic aspect it's a masterpiece. And the music is fantastic.

People and dinosaurs DID live with each other! Granted, it wasn't even this many years ago; it was from around 8000 years ago or whatever up until the flood, circa 4000 years ago, where for some reason Noah wouldn't save them.

Some people actually believe Barack Hussein ObaMAO should be President again. What's your point?

reply

Meh. Not saying Obama was a great choice, but that Romney guy should never be allowed near an official position. Ever. I don't know much about his politics, but his life view is disturbing. Elect that kind of folks and who knows where people will head.

I'm quite indifferent on this subject on a political level, though. Because I'm wholly apathetic to the world at large and utterly pathetic. So let's not start a fight here. All I'm stating is that the idea of giving persons like Romney power is genuinely frightening.

Or are you NOT stating Romney is the lesser evil here? Are you just stating that some people feel Obama should stay in his position, regardless of nominees, because he did "such a wonderful job"?

Let's just keep it simple. ObaMAO SUCKS!

reply

Ah, so like a true American, you're just sharing your Dad's political view, not even knowing his reasoning for it?

That's not an assumption at all. I don't know what you're talking about.

Some people isn't happy if is not forcing their point of view on politics everywhere, even if it's in a place where people is talking about a completely unrelated topic. Yeah, ok, you don't like Obama, so what? Who asked? Who was talking about politicians?

Let the growns up talk.

I gave it 7/10 stars also. This is fine entertainment, with decent lo-fi special effects for 1966, interesting stop-motion animation and beautiful cinematography. I found it hypnotic at times.

reply

I also give it 7/10. It's definitely not accurate, but it's a prehistoric fantasy and a damn good one.

Its embarrassing to believe that the film makers didn´t know that early people and dinosaurs didn´t coexist! Its a fantasy! Who has not ever fantasizes about fighting with or running away from a dinosaur? Its an escapist fantasy, and one of the few which is set in a parallel reality!

Fantastic film!
