Any word on a new Criterion Blu Ray?

I'm surprised this film hasn't been treated to a blu ray release by Criterion. It's a very unusual and wonderful film. It fits the Criterion label very well.

The Criterion DVD isn't that hard to find but I keep getting outbid on ebay for the ones that pop up (I usually don't use the buy it now feature out of protest, it is an auction site, right?).

Does anyone have any information that would lend light on a blu ray release?

UPDATE:

I finally won a used copy on ebay of the DVD. Unfortunately it has a small scratch that slows down (but doesn't completely stop) playback at the scene directly after the snail eating. It picks back up again directly after. Oh well.

So I assume no one has any information about a new blu ray of the film?

I'm impressed by the resolution of the Criterion DVD. It looks really good. Colors are vibrant and details are quite good. Looks like the original elements held up quite good.

Released on blu-ray in Britain by Eureka.

Interesting. Maybe a Region A release will be coming out soon then. Either that or I need to get a region free player...

Thanks for the update.

A region free player is one of the best purchases you could ever make. Highly recommend you get one. As someone who bought The Naked prey on Blu-ray, this film looks absolutely phenomenal.

Care to recommend a good player? I have an Oppo BDP-83 that has been flawless for quite a few years now. I've seen some mods to convert it to region free, but I'd rather just buy one already good to go for region free.

The Eureka edition is advertised on the back of this month's "Sight and Sound", and is reviewed.
