Somehow I get the feeling I've seen this movie on tv a couple of times and heard it with different soundtracks (at least in part) - one a fairly lightweight, upbeat mod-ish type, and another more of a grave John Barry/Bond feeling thing. Too much booze on my part or what?

You may be right. I can remember seeing this movie back when it came out at the theater and it seemed to have a move John Barry/Bond feeling (to use your words). When I saw it several years later on TV it didn't sound like the same soundtrack. Considering I was only about 9 when I first saw it and about 13 when I saw it on TV, I don't think booze had anything to do with it.

And all only availible on Vinyl.That is if you can find them.
Lalo Schifrin - Murders Row is my favourite though very groovy theme song.
And happen too own one copy of it :)
I don't know if this will help, but I just downloaded Lalo Schifrin's theme to "Murderer's Row" off of Lavamus (http://lavamus.com/Main/). They might have the other soundtracks as well.
