And I saw bits of the movie once on a Late Late Show, now AMC is playing it and I'm being treated to the full cheesy glory of it. It's a lot of fun so far. I think I'll find out if the library has any of the books ...

there are a number of modesty Blaise novels, and also a lot of collections of the original comic strips from the evening Standard. it all depends on your taste which you prefer. Personally, I'm more of a fan of the comic strips, but the novels are good too.
