Sad irony: the mother-in-law scammed Lana into ruining her own life

The sad irony is that Constance Bennett's character, Estelle, the mother in law, would have covered up Ricardo Montalban's death and Lana Turner's "involvement" in it in order to protect John Forsythe's career had Lana called her bluff and refused to agree to staging her own death.

But Estelle used Lana's maternal protectiveness and love for her husband's welfare against her, tricking her into giving up her own life unnecessarily.

What a cow, that Estelle!!
