'Spoof' of popular films in the 60s

This film was made to make fun of the "beach party" movies of its day. People who grew up watching Frankie and Annette would understand.

The first time I saw it, I tuned in late and didn't know what I was watching. My jaw nearly hit the floor during the sweater scene!

Once I caught on to the joke, it made a lot more sense.

"Why can't we all just get along?"

Thanks for the insight.
I knew they were flipped out, I just didn't know why.

Excellent perspective. The point of this film would probably be lost on most of today's audiences, but it was thumbing its nose at the mainstream teen films of the era, and I think it did it quite well. It would do well on a double bill with other '60s black comedies such as "The Loved One," which spoofs the funeral industry.

Roddy McDowall and Tuesday Weld are fantastic here, and the the dialogue and editing were consistently challenging. 8/10 stars from me, but I might upgrade if I watch it again.
