It's on Svengoolie (MeTV) 5/10/14

At the end of last week's show, Sven let us know that it will be on this Saturday night! I met him in Joliet, IL in 2012 and mentioned this to him. Evidently they were able to FINALLY get it!! 10ET/9CT

Yes, I'm looking forward to ISLAND OF TERROR this Saturday night on Svengoolie. It's long been one of my favorites, and I still have my old well-played VHS tape of it. I can't remember the last time it turned up on TV, so Saturday night will be a real treat. Especially with Sven hosting it!

Don't think I have seen this before... A rare treat. Berwyn????

reply

I'll be watching it too! I have a cold Bud Light and, as always, popcorn at the ready!

I'm guessing some of the usual suspects will be here as well.

Saw it back in the '70s several times. Creepy sounds! Great special effects for the era.

AND Peter Cushing too! My favorite British actor!!! Have never seen this before, so it's a real treat!

reply

Watched and enjoyed it on Svengoolie. Wish Svengoolie's show would more variety of horror movies and rare ones. They do too many repeats of movies.Like his little tidbits and insights on the movies though.

It'll be back on on 5/17!

Caught the movie a half-hour in, so will have to find it elsewhere, but it's really good so far.

"Svengoolie" is that weirdo in the tophat? That guy just pisses me off. Almost as bad as the commercials...

reply

I saw it last night. It's terrible, a ripoff (intentional or not) of Fiend without a Face.

I can't believe anyone is frightened by "turtles with tentacles" -- especially when the tentacle flops over at the point the monofilament line is attached.

I can't believe you would mischaracterize what they are to then make a false statement.
Of course the characters and the viewing audience are to be frightened by them!

We have seen what they do. And it got worse when we saw that fire and dynamite
didn't stop them.

So, that part of post is bogus. You need to back and delete it.
