The ending (spoiler)

She wants to become an actress. She succeeds and gets a couple of movie deals. Why does she choose to commit suicide instead?

reply

Actually, she only gets humiliated, and, while throughout the movie she doesn't seem to feel anything, nothing seems to hurt her (as the writer says about her), she eventually feels something which could be humiliation or she realizes the void of her life and the failure of her dreams and (very simple) ambitions.

I'm Winston Wolf. I solve problems.

...And no dream is ever... just a dream...

Pretty much what The Wolf said.

Throughout the movie, she endures an endless cycle of being humiliated and taken advantage of by several courters, brushing all her issues off with a child-like demeanor, only to finally recognize everything that happened to her once all was said and done (i.e. The scene in theater towards the end. "I don't know. Let's hope so!")

She had nobody in the end except, probably more courters with intentions of bedding her so yeah.. Jumped to her death.

Howard Hughes was Italian?

The ending is forshadowed in the title, so I knew Adriana was gone before the movie started, but her suicide did come as a surprise, considering that we didn't get a lot of overt clues that she was having serious trouble dealing with the humiliation and exploitation and sexism she experienced. It seemed like she wasn't letting that defeat her. The writer's words bothered her and made her realize that she was a bimbo, but then she went right on being a bimbo, so it looked like she came to terms with it. I knew that somebody was going to fall off the balcony after the camera followed the water Adriana was spraying down to the ground, and when I saw that baby at the railing I got a little worried, but it was no surprise that it was Adriana. It did seem to come at a surprising time since she seemed to be enjoying her last all-nighter more than others we saw, but even a good time can't overcome the kind of depression she was suffering. It wasn't until her suicide that I felt sympathy for her and realized that she wasn't so empty-headed after all. I think that's why the scene was necessary and not just tacked on.
