Hi.

Sorry for the late reply. When you posted this I didn't have my account created already and only now I've seen your post.

I agree. It's strange that such a fabulous film doesn't have any posts. This film is wonderful and very special. It definitely is an italian masterpiece. It is sentimental, poignant, emotional, sensitive, poetic, refined... everything that is good. A hidden gem, without a doubt.

By the way, what do you think of the 1984 remake 'Misunderstood'? That one is also an amazing film, even though not as perfect as this one.

Thank you. Yes, I have seen the remake. Otherwise how could I know how it is? :)

Actually, I have both movies and I love them both. The original is my favorite of the two, but I also cherish and respect the other one.

I can't say anything about the cinema of Jerry Schatzberg, as I don't know any more movies of him.

I think the reason there are few posts is because the film is hard to find. But, there are more posts on the IMDB forum for the remake Misunderstood with Henry Thomas in 1984. I can honestly say that the performance in 1984 by Henry Thomas in 1984 was incredible. The acting by him was a real masterpiece and so believable for a young actor like that. The neglect that kid felt in the movie was just so painful. Has to be one of the saddest and most depressing movies of all time yet at the same time very well done. I can't understand why Misunderstood has a much lower rating than Incompresso but both movies were excellent. The only thing I can think of is that the end in misunderstood was a little more "left unsaid" and I think it should have have the exact same ending as incompresso.

I believe that is part of the reason too. Few people know this movie, I guess.

'Misunderstood', while better known than this one, is still a hard movie to find and it wasn't also that famous and few know it.

While 'Incompreso' is the better film to me, 'Misunderstood' is equally very good. It lacks little to be as good as the original.

And yes, Henry Thomas is excellent in that movie, actually much more mature than in his most famous role (Elliott). It's a shame that people think of him too much as "Elliott" when he did other movies and was great in all of them. Unlike many, I don't think of him only as "Elliott".

I rate 'Incompreso' as 10 and 'Misunderstood' as 9. I think it's a fair rating.
