Worst sound mix of all time

Besides the bad acting and monster make-up, the sound in this film is terrible.

There's a lot of scary music, but it's mixed so low that it sounds as if it's coming from a transistor radio in another room.

The old man throws a big whiskey jug to the floor but there's no sound of a crash (even though we see the jug in splinters in the next shot).

And at the end, a character is shot but the gun sound is barely audible.

Yeah, it's bad in just about every conceivable way. I remember seeing it around 1972 when I was a little kid when it was making the "Creature Feature" circuit of midnight monster movies. The irradiated fellow kind of creeped me out.

Then, the other day I was checking out a low power digital station and guess what popped up. If nothing else, the switch to digital television has opened up airspace for stuff like this that never would have made analog TV.

The movie was just as bad 40 years later, but it was good for a few yucks this time.

If you want truly bad sound quality, watch 2000's Carnivore. Not only does this film have the worst sound I have ever heard (barely), it is quite possibly the worst film ever made. More recently, and quite surprisingly, 2007's Shooter, with Mark Wahlberg, has horrible sound quality. Apparently, some directors don't think sound is that important in a movie. Go figure.
