When will I ever learn?

When will I learn to stop trying to watch these Swedish movies? I haven't seen one yet that I like. They're apparently not for me.

I'm not going to say I didn't like this or I didn't like that because the truth is I actually didn't watch most of the movie. I tried but I was so bored I just couldn't do it. I fast-forwarded through the rest but nothing jumped out at me.

I suspect the sheer length of the movie was a problem too. Perhaps if it had been shorter I would have sat through it but it was as long as two movies put together. That's just too much of an investment. I have to start paying closer attention to what I'm recording to DVR. Stuff like this eats up space unnecessarily.

I know it’s supposed to be a coming of age movie but so? What am I supposed to get from it? I’m not from that area, I’m not a young man or a man at all, I don’t get it. If anyone understood the movie and can tell me what the point of it is, do tell!

well it's autobiographical so it's going to be boring like everyone's life, though there is the theme of growing up through work along with the socialist claptrap. Coming of age for girls is indeed very different, usually they have to start off as princesses, and though the story might show them being treated worse than they are entitled, the conclusion has to be that they are special and perfect

timlin-4, thanks for responding but I can't agree with your premise. Even if a story is based in truth there would have to be a reason, something about that life, that would compel someone to first write about it then later have others feel it necessary to convert it into a movie.

That's what I was missing, a point. I've seen a lot of French movies that seem to have no point. They show, what can be called, a snapshot in time. I usually don't like those either.
