John Williams

THE John Williams did the music ..

I remember watching it last night and seeing "Johnny Williams" in the opening credits and thinking how similar the name is to John Williams.

Then I find out after the movie - it IS the John Williams.

Before Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and of course, Harry Potter ..

There was this.

He was groovy Johnny Williams in those days but the music gave the game away.

It's that man again!!

Caught that during opening credits. Thought maybe it was John Williams father, or another relative. I forgot how old he was. Really interesting (to me).

I can't remember when the actual change to "John Williams" happened, but he was credited as young "Johnny Williams" for a while in the 70s: Eiger Sanction, The Cowboys and Hitchcock's Family Plot. It may very well be Star Wars in 1977 where he changed the name.

His music started off lighter, playful and jazzier and eventually turned into the orchestral pieces we know today (although you got an early preview of his soaring symphonic powers in John Wayne's The Cowboys in 1972).

His dad was a jazz drummer, and played with the odd but entertaining Raymond Scott group.
