Too much suffering-okay I'm a guy-but how about a car chase?
A shoot-out, or two, would that have been too much to ask for?

If you think there's too much suffering in this film...imagine what it was like for women to actually lead lives like this, pre-womens lib.

The women in this story lead fairly privileged lives. I'm old enough to have known quite a few women who lived through the 1930s, and other than having to deal with the Great Depression, none of them had any complaints.

What the OP fails to realize is that this is a CHARACTER study .... NOT a CAR/actor display.
In the frozen land of Nador they were forced to eat Robins minstrels. And there was much rejoicing.
