MGM DVD needed!

I would love to see MGM release all the AIP-TV versions of the Gamera films as part of their Midnight Movies DVD collection. I would love to see crisp master versions as opposed to the flea bitten, off-colour versions available from Alpha, Retromedia, and the like!

I found 11 Gamera movies (and one I never heard of) in a collection at fye this past weekend. They come in sets of 3 with 2 movies on each DVD (6 total per Volume). They restore the films as best they could (there are still a few glitches and fuzziness) but I wasn't all that concerned because I was so happy to have my 2nd favorite monster on DVD. I paid $9.99 for each set. Would of been way happier had they been in widescreen but I was just happy to find them at all.

The AIP version of Gamera vs. Barugon was weak. The Sandy Frank dub is the way to go.

I got five Gamera movies (and four other monster related flicks) in a GIANT MONSTERS DVD COLLECTION released by St. Clair Vision. VHS transfer, not the best picture. Special features if you can believe that come with Trailers, Poster Gallery, and short featurette about the History of Monster Movies.

Versions in the collection are GAMERA VS MONSTER X, GAMERA VS GAOS, DESTROY ALL PLANETS, WAR OF THE MONSTERS, and GAMMERA THE INVINCIBLE.

Believe it or not, we are actually trying to make this happen. Distribution rights have diverted back to us (Kadokawa Pictures USA) since Daie no longer exists ^_^ and we are seeking out distributors for the original Gamera titles right now.

MSUPchan, Since Shout Factory is putting out Gamera's debut movie, did you give them access to this one?
