Baragon's rainbow

I thought that the Baragon rainbow is an awesome weopn to have for any creature, unfortunately they gave it to one of the weakest monsters in kaiju history. Sure, Gamera got frozen and was out for a good potion of the movie, but before and after he thawed out he was getting his ass whipped like a runaway slave. Hell, he even got clawed in the face by Gamera after he froze him.

I don't want to nitpick or anything, but Baragon is a Godzilla/Toho Monster seen in Frankenstein Conquers the World as the triceraptops-like fire-breathing monster, had a very small role as a bystander in Destroy all Monsters and was in an O.K. role in Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Barugon is Gmaera's foe.

Now, to your post... In the original series, Gamera's foes were Barugon, Gaos, Viras, Guiron, Jiger, and Zigra. They all seem sub-par compared to King Ghidorah, Mothra, Gigan, and Godzilla's other foes, but maybe that's just me.

This movie needs an update.

With the proper effects, Barugon can be an amazing monster. The idea of having it born out of an opal and shooting rainbows is poetical.

The backstory can be greatly improved upon, keeping the basic "greed is evil" theme. With proper actors and modern effects, this one in particular could be the kaiju to end all kaijus.

Baragon was gay friendly before it was commonplace.

He was always such a trendsetter.

I liked Barugon. I think that he could have put up a better fight in the second encounter with Gamera, but he was a unique creature just the same. He possessed powerful attacks such as the rainbow beam (itself an oddity) and breath of ice, yet he remained a somewhat piteous creature. He's like a lost and frightened puppy possessing a strong bite. Beware his strong jaws, but remember that he has more to fear from you than you do from him.

It also arguably makes him an ideal starter opponent for Gamera in that regard.
