Too short.

That last fight was over too quickly. Barugon only got one direct hit that I was in that conflict. Gamera caught Barugon and roasted him with fire. Barugon countered by hitting Gamera with his tongue and knocking him down. Gamera flew into Barugon. Barugon grabbed a hold of Gamera, but Gamera knocked him off and into the water. Gamera hit Barugon into the water again. Gamera dragged Barugon into the water screaming. That fight was over way too quickly. They really should have had Barugon go for his freezing attack again as well. It worked the first time. It was foolish for him not to even attempt it the second time.

Too short?! The movie's 100 minutes long... and of that, it's about 30 minutes too long as is.

I am glad that you brought this up. I have two theories on this topic. For one, Barugon is a baby. He hatched a few days prior to his battles and really seems kind of like a youngster. Not battle tested enough. He should have tried to use his freeze blast. However seeing as how in the film it is stated that if an animal is hurt by something that they will not try it again that could explain why he did not use it again. He saw that it obviously did not stop Gamera since Gamera returned to battle him again. So therefore he thought he needed to do something else. Plus he could have been injured so bad from his own rainbow that his powers were limited.

Watching the film again, you may be right. Whether intended or not, he does behave somewhat like a juvenile animal.
