an 'adult' gamera picture . . .

. . . gamera is known for being a childrens show, gamera is the savior of children in distress of course. war of the monsters is interesting in that all the lead players are adults, there's no kid in trouble in this one. it's got a crime plot involving crooks ripping off an opal with one crook who's a slimy doublecrossing snake. interesting entry in the quite enjoyable gamera series . . .

I'm watching it right now, its nice not all the films are about kids screaming GAMERA!

Haven't seen too much of Gamera so far, 28 minutes into the movie.

Onodera is without a doubt one of the single most hateful and ruthless adult villains to ever ooze his way through a Japanese giant monster movie. I was genuinely surprised at how dark and serious this picture was.

And I am surprised at how low a rating this movie has on this site! It's a damn good movie. I just viewed the latest Shout dvd release. So maybe the low ratings are on the horrible dubbed English prints?

I agree, it's a wonderful monster movie, vastly superior to the first Gamera movie. I've watched it maybe four or five times in the past month. But yeah, dubbing if it's done very poorly, can really ruin the experience. So that might be the reason why it has such a low rating.

This was better than I thought it would be, mainly because it's more of an adult Gamera flick; no screaming yard-monkeys. The actress who plays Karen, Kyôko Enami, is a Goddess :)

You also have two scenes where Karen is positioned to appear like she's performing oral sex on Keisuke. I was almost shocked at the sexual innuendo in both scenes.
