I had heard that the Gargantua characters were going to get a revamp like so many other great Toho monsters. I saw a brief clip of Green in the prologue of the last Godzilla movie, but that was it.
Does anybody knop about a new version? It would be great (but nothing can compare to the original).
While I don't go for remakes of already good films usually, I'd say that the best remake possible of this would be if it included the Frankenstein beginning sequence of events from Frankenstein Conquers the World, dropped the fight with Baragon, and then in some plot manner went right into the Guargantuas, that being the sequel originally.

Can you imagine the Gargantuas about fifty feet shorter (not kaiju sized). Like that painting of Saturn devouring his children where the lady at the airport would take two hands (and several bites) to devour.
It could be nuts!
"What do you want me to do, draw a picture? Spell it out!"
I'm honestly not sure they should remake any more of the 60's Toho monsters. "Final Wars" was a fun film, but a bit of a disappointment. I think Toho has just lost interest in making this kind of film. 10 years ago, I would have given my left bulbous man part for a "Godzilla vs Gamera" film, but lately, I've found it a bit of a relief that it never got made.
They need to find some directors and SPFX people with a genuine fondness for the original films and their traditions.
I was thinking more of a 're-thinking' than a remake. An all-out horror movie. I know that Toho is interested in family fare, but it could make a lot of money from a bloody giant-eating-people movie. I would simply like the Gargantuas to be abbout half their original size so that it would take two hands for Green to eat the airport lady.
They must have "The Words get Stuck in my Throat"
