It was kind of ironic too that as soon as the singer is done singing the lyrics: "The Words Get Stuck In My Throat", she gets stuck in the green guargantua's throat when he eats her :-)

C'mon now! What kind of fan are you! He picks her up but never actually eats her because they turn on the lights and he drops her. The chorus should be "It sucks when I get dropped on my throat" LOL!!!

As far as I can remember, the woman who actualy gets eaten and her chewed up clothes get spit out, is a woman that the green Gargantua grabs at the airport.

I think he was having more of a "wishful thinking" moment. She was a horrible singer, and the song itself was dreadful. I always found it disappointing that Gaira didn't chomp on her... much sooner... like the minute she started singing.

Here's some fun info. Devo did this song in some of their shows in the late seventies. I had a live bootleg album by them at one time and they were singing this song with Boojie Boy doing the singing. That's how I remembered the song. They put some of their own words to it. But that just makes you kind of like Devo, doesn't it? Very cool nerdy dudes.

The role of 'Singer' is shown as Kipp Hamilton in the cast list. Does anyone know if that is actually her singing 'Words Get Stuck..." in the nightclub scene, or someone else's vocals dubbed in - - ?

- - and clicking on Kipp Hamilton, the only bio info shows her as Carol Burnett's sister-in-law. Uhh, what's up w/ that?

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember her in episodes of My Three Sons and Dragnet. I never would have noticed if it weren't for her Gargantuas role.

Kipp Hamilton was also a guest star on an old "Bewitched" episode, but truly her greatest moment was the singer in "War of the Gargantuas". I wish that Green Gargantau would eat the trumpeter who stands up for his lame solo. Would love to hear Devo cover of the song.

I'm sure it's called The Words Keep Getting Stuck in my throat. I have a 2xCD by Devo where it features Devo covering this song! I believe this 2xCD is only available as an internet only purchase! I found my copy used a record store in Hollywood.

Part of the charm of Sophia Coppola's "Lost in Translation" is the way it mirrors much of what takes place in this horror flick. The cityscapes, as well as the American lounge singer. At times during the lounge scenes in "Lost in Translation" I was waiting for a monster to pop up.

I had the same false memory. After not seeing the movie for 40 years, I conflated the two women: the unfortunate lady at the airport (Green Gargantua eats her like a Chicken McNugget and spits out her dress) and the terrible lounge singer on the roof (GG picks her up but doesn't get to eat her before the lights scare him away).

I just saw an episode of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated where they had a big green ape and a big red ape and some woman dressed in yellow actually sings the Words Get stuck In My Throat. I recognized it immediately. The people who do that cartoon obviously must have seen the War of the Gargantuas.

After nine years, it's probably time the original question be answered correctly. The actual song title is "Feel In My Heart". A lousy song to be sure, but this was the same decade where many US movies were inundating us with songs of this type on their "swinging 60s" soundtracks ("Your Zowie Face" in "In Like Flint" also comes to mind).

I suspect Kipp Hamilton was capable of delivering a song better since she was once up for the lead in a Broadway musical called "Donnybrook" a few years earlier. It's a pity that this is the only thing people remember her for because unlike the talentless American expatriates Toho usually hired as window dressing for their films, she had a respectable Hollywood career for a decade with guest shots on many classic TV shows in the 60s. Her "Bewitched" episode as a beauty queen named "Pleasure O'Reilly" is a riot, and she also made a convincing villainess in a great first season episode of "The Wild, Wild West".

I thought Kipp Hamilton stood out in THE UNFORGIVEN (1960) among the other actresses in that film (which included none other than Audrey Hepburn and Lillian Gish). She played the local flirt trying to win the hand of Audie Murphy.

It's a pity that this is the only thing people remember her for because unlike the talentless American expatriates Toho usually hired as window dressing for their films

It was really Henry Saperstein who hired the likes of Nick Adams and Russ Tamblyn for the Toho films and both did have respectable careers and even garnering Academy Award nominations.

You're absolutely right re: Saperstein and Adams/Tamblyn (he was also responsible for casting Hamilton and had asked Toho to give her a Kong like moment) and I should have clarified that point. I was thinking of the American expatriates living in Japan that Toho was using in many other films like Linda Miller in "King Kong Escapes", Harold Conway and all the other westerners in "The Last War." Pf that group, only George Furness, who was in "The Mysterians" and "Gorath" had any actual acting ability, and that's why he also used in American productions shot in Japan like "The Last Voyage."
