Have watched this movie many times. Latest time it occured to me that Matthau delivered many of his lines - especially at the beginning - in the style of Groucho Marx. Seemed so similar was wondering if that's how he was directed.
shareFunny. I've only seen it once (it was today), and in the early scenes my reaction was, "Jeez, he's really hamming it up-- using a sort of W.C. Fields delivery, and overdoing it."
His later scenes didn't seem so hammy. I wonder if the early parts were filmed before his heart attack?
