Bowling Alley Scene

In the scene in the bowling alley scene where a beautiful young woman acquaitance comes over to chat with Boom Boom and he blows her off, I always wondered what the point was. Sure Boom Boom was depressed and maybe not feeling like socializing but he was so rude to her when she was just trying to be nice and sociable. He simply could have politely told her that it was nice to see her but he just needed to be alone and didn't feel like talking. Then he makes a snide comment on her hair, just uncalled for. I guess this was the set up for the brawl he gets caught up in and getting suspended from the team.

I know you wrote 5 years ago but, that scene did seem over the top. I think it was supposed to show that he was really reaching the depth of depression. He was the nicest guy throughout the movie but he was riddled with guilt. He knew when the ex wife Sandy Hinkle came back, she was a fraud who was only trying to manipulate Harry. The woman in the bar had died her hair a fake blond. It reminded Boom Boom of Sandra Hinkle’s manipulation and he blew a gasket
