No longer accurate

We saw this movie in my troop a few years ago while on a bus on our way to a summer camp. Obviously someone's dad had fond memories of it, but most kids spent the majority of the time making fun of it, and the conversation slowly devolved into one guy reminiscing about how the film reminded him he had stolen his dad's vintage playboys. No one was paying attention by the end. nonetheless, the stupid song has been stuck in my head ever since. I think it's a good movie because of the history involved, but you're kidding yourself if you think that Boy Scouts still behave the same way they were depicted in this film.

The problem isn't that the film isn't accurate, it's that it's dated. The film is accurate to the time and the goals of the scouts. It's too bad that the scouts made fun of it, without it and these types of leaders there wouldn't be a scouting movement today. More obviously, today's scouts feel killing people is more "fun" than saving them. That said I know many scouts that think this film is right on to the ideals that they should be looking to emulate. Walking old women across the street seems weird only because many of the old women we know can help the scouts across the street, because their in shape while the scouts would rather sit in front of their video games and smart phones and veg!!!

I'll say; Russel kid breaks into store to steal a glove and ball, ignoring several guns on display. Times sure have changed!

I'll say; they fire off a cannon to celebrate the cabin; nowadays, would result in a felony charge for having a deadly weapon &/or possessing a 'destructive device'. Not to mention a dozen-plus kids in the car earlier, and somehow they survived without seatbelts! Times have really changed!
