Miscasting?

The chemistry between Annette and Frankie, already established in earlier beach movies was lost in this one. The roles of Jane and Martha should have been reversed here for a better matchup. Of course Martha didn't dress like a mouseketeer, but that could have been worked around.

Also, I was expecting Eric Von Zipper here and was disappointed with Harvey Lembeck as Charlie Bigg.

These Annette/Frankie movies were big money makers for American International Pictures. But the series had run it's course and the profits were drindling. I think that the writers felt that they needed to switch things up to try and keep the interest of the paying customers. The following movie in the series, Thunder Alley was the last.

You are brilliant! Seriously, I'm a big Annette fan, never thought of this but you're absolutely right. It would have Annette playing against type and still ending up with Frankie in the end. I would have loved to see her tackle that role.

I agree that it should have had Eric Von Zipper. And I was expecting more of a musical.

I have a feeling that the ''Martha'' character, played by Julie Parrish, was originally intended for Martha Hyer, who had made a few AIP appearances by that time. Just the sort of part she did so well elsewhere.
