Edited 1976 version on TCM on June 24

There are two versions of this ballet film. The version showing on TCM on June 24, 2012, is the heavily edited 1976 version, which added voice-over narration and animation. The 1976 version is known as "The Mysterious House of Dr. C." In the edited version, many beautiful dances were cut short or even eliminated, and replaced with nonsense cartoon animation. In addition, the beautiful Delibes music was edited, and replaced with non-stop voice narration and mediocre songs.

The original film "Dr. Coppelius" (1968) is a traditional ballet film, with ballet, Delibes music, and pantomime only.

So there are two versions of this film. The first version is the original "Dr. Coppelius" (1968), a traditional ballet film. The second version is the edited "The Mysterious House of Dr. C" (1976), which added narration, cartoon animation and songs.

I just finished watching the original Dr. Coppelius version on TCM. Maybe they wised up since they showed it last time.
