Saw this years ago and, while it wasn't shown, it seemed to be implied that they exited out of his ass? Can anyone verify this?

It was most certainly shown. They put a microscope slide up to the patient's eye and they came out of the tearduct, as the above poster said.

It was shown. Took a drop of fluid from corner of eye and gathered it on a glass slide, the crew of the sub grows big enough to be seen as soon as the slide is placed on the ground.
