Free on Amazon Prime
I watched this over the weekend for free on Amazon Prime. Suffice to say the version on Prime was obviously the 2-D version so Space-Vision wasn't in use, and it was a really washed out print, but I guess that was probably due to only using one reel of film vs dual reels for 3-D. Apparently there is a cleaned up 3-D Blu-Ray release out there (with a 2-D included version), if anyone is interested.
Anyway, the movie, while ultimately a lame affair, had some compelling parts (along with some odd cuts) and I stuck it out mainly because I wanted to see how it would finish (it was less than spectacular).
It was really interesting to see how much this story had in common with King's 'Under the Dome' book (I have yet to watch the TV series). King invested a lot into his story (characters, setting, and so forth), but ultimately one can see his story was far from original. That being said, King's story was entertaining while this film was dull as dishwater.
One thing really stuck out with me about the movie. At one point Mark is trying to tunnel out under the bubble and his wife calls to him to take a rest to which he says something like "Quit bitching at me." While I am no prude, I was taken slightly aback at not only the language and the sentiment, both of which were foreign to the rest of the film. It was like one moment of reality had seeped in on an otherwise desert of science fiction fantasy.
