A future with no autos

There are no personal automobiles in the movie and everyone has to walk or use the monorail.
Additionally, the fire trucks are electric.
The blue flammable liquid the firemen use is not gasoline.
In the future, there is no oil or gasoline and therefore no dependency for it and no global warming.
