Great Movie

Perfect cast and yes this movie does put a different light on the Indian vs. white man conflict. Good performances by all involved and you can look at James Garner and see he did some goodwork besides Rockford Files. Love that shot in the beginning when he escapes from the indians.

I could not agree more I loved this movie when I first saw it. I was just a kid and my older brother took me to the old Biltmore theatre on Yonge St in Toronto. They were showing Dual as part of a triple bill along with The Naked Runner and I recall that the feature film was Kellys Heroes as a sneak preview.
What a great night . Dual at Diablo must have been in a second run but I was blown away by it. I didn't get a chance to see it again for years. When I did see it listed on a late late movie about 15 years later I stayed up half the night to catch it. No DVR in those days.
The Biltmore used to run triple features pretty regularly but this trio was the best set I ever sat through and the only one I recall vividly. Obviously Kellys Heroes is a classic but I loved them all - to this day I've never seen the Sinatra film again - hopefully they'll play it on Turner one night.
Dual at Diablo is on now - I'm taping it so I can watch it when I have time to enjoy it all over again properly.

Yes I've just watched my recording of D A D. It never fails to disappoint.Good to see Poitier in a Western and he delivers as usual.Great rugged scenery and a catchy theme tune. Not for the squeamish though.Battle scenes reminded me a bit of Ulzanas Raid another great Western.

for me any film with garner in is worth watching..hugely underrated actor in my opinion.although I prefer him in lighter roles, this is a role in which there is no hint of humour in his character.and he is still excellent in it

I enjoyed everything about this movie since I am a big fan of "spaghetti westerns" and this one had the look. The only thing I did not like was the part Dennis Weaver played but it was good to get to see James Garner and Dennis Weaver work together in another western, "A Man Called Sledge". It looked like they enjoyed working together and I wish they could have done some more since they were both naturals in westerns.

I just did not care for the part Dennis Weaver played in this one although he played it well in that in this one he was a total jerk and would not accept his wife back after she had been so long in captivity and would not accept the child she had had with the native American. His was a part in tune with the era and this movie.

Rest in Peace.

I enjoyed it very much and I'm not even a huge fan of westerns. Garner's a gem, both for his fine, subtle acting and his totally dreamy looks (Really, thighs like that don't happen every day❤). Bibi Anderson does a great job as a woman in a very untenable position and Bill Travers is good, too. (I know Travers was a big guy, but how do you throw James Garner - also a big guy - over your shoulder like a sack of potatoes?). And who knew Dennis Weaver was sexy? I mean, until you learn more about his character, that first scene he has with is wife is very sympathetic and appealing - the character is clearly a man who has a passion, both physical and emotional, for his wife.

And though I enjoy the whole movie (and the secret you learn about who Ellen has to get back to), the opening 5 minutes are FANTASTIC! Seriously, probably in my top five movie openings of all time (I think it's called a "cold opening," preceding the credits, per Wikipedia's definition.) It tells you everything you need to know about Garner's character: he's compassionate, brave, principaled, smart and cautious and doesn't like to watch others suffer. Then the zoom-out shot, where the music starts (wonderful score, too), and they ride off on the horse. Just the BEST!
