1971 Sydney QANTAS Mr Brown bomb extortion.

In 1971 an Englishman Peter Macari in Australia watched this movie "Doomsday Flight" on TV and used the same plot and bomb device to extort $500,000 from QANTAS in Sydney. He put a working copy of the bomb in a locker in Sydney and the Airline tested the device. The extortionist claimed the actual bomb was on a QANTAS fight heading to Hong Kong. QANTAS paid the $500,000 as the airplane circled over Sydney running out of fuel. The bomber whose code name was "Mr Brown" revealed there was no bomb on the airplane and it landed safely. Peter Macari AKA Mr Brown was arrested when he and his accomplice started spending up big in Sydney.
