Mistake

Been watching this film for years and have only just noticed in the part where Joan sims is in the garden with Charles Hawtrey where she says "my cousin, the count" meaning 'my cousin, the 'C' word. You can hear a smirk from Charles Hawtrey then see Joan Sims about to kill herself laughing just before the camera cuts to the next seen. Like I said - been watching this film for years and never noticed this. I don't even think this has been spotted on the special edition DVD, I may be wrong.

Thanks. I will have to watch it again (not that is a bad thing) to see for myself!!

Very good!
It is at about 46:14 and is well worth watching. You can just about hear Hawtrey's choked giggle.

Good link to that moment in the film. It's a wonder someone hasn't put that sequence up on You Tube. Although I must say I didn't see Joan Sims and Charles Hawtrey do any corpsing as the OP suggests. They had to get it done professionally. The Carry On film makers didn't like to have to do second takes.
