The epilogue (spoilers)

Did anyone else think it a bit odd that Joanie decided to stay on in a village where half the inhabitants were devil-worshippers? It had presumably been going on a long time as the church was burned down years before.
Also that she got married to a weird man who went around pretending to be a vicar and who didn't even help her when she needed it most!
