Wow, she looked so young and so sexy. No wonder she's still alive at 95.

Long may she reign!

Joan was really looking good in this film. It was unjust the way she had been cast as plain and mousy in her earlier career. She was a beautiful woman.

Joan was just so naturally stunning that even as plain, mousy characters, she still looked beautiful. IMHO, it was easier for her sister Olivia to be made mousy and plain, such as in The Heiress and Gones With The Wind (performance-wise, she was absolutely brilliant in both).

I haven't seen Olivia de Havilland in her plain roles yet. I don't blame actresses for taking on a plain character if the role is good. But as you say, Joan was a natural beauty that belied that type of casting.

Never seen 'The Heiress' as yet. UK TV never seem to have it on their schedules. I take it that Olivia plays a dowdy spinster in that one.

She was absolutely gorgeous in this movie, especially in the opening scenes. One of the most beautiful faces on film.
