Budget?

It was said Dr Who and the Daleks cost £180,000 to make in 1965. Could anyone tell me the budget of this one?
After this were there plans for The Chase to get made into a Peter Cushing film that fell through yes? As well as Great Adventure film?
This and the prequel was broadcast in 1985, 1986 on a Saturday yes?

Well; £180,000 was a hell of a lot of money in 1965. The Prime Minister's salary was about £10,000. So for that budget you could have run the entire British cabinet for a year! Allowing for inflation, £180,000 would translate into about £4million today. So - I think you've been misled. `Daleks In vasion Earth' doesn't look as if it cost for than about £25,000 at 1965 rates. If it did, then the accountant should have been charged with fraud.

I believe there was going to be a third movie. But because Dalekmania was beginning to wane and the 2nd (and far better) film initially didn't make as much at the box office, a 3rd film was therefore scrapped.

I've also heard a rumour that it wasn't going to feature the Daleks at all and they were going to do a film version of 'The Keys Of Marinus'?

Either way it's a shame because I liked Peter Cushing and Roberta Tovey playing their roles. But they sure made their money back on these 2 films, because every time the Daleks appeared in the TV show I can remember the films being shown back to back repeatedly at my local cinema back in the 1970's.

In the 1966, the most expensive car by far you could buy in Britain was a Rolls-Royce Phantom V costing £10,000. A Ferrari cost £6000. A ordinary car, such as a Ford Anglia (the car from Harry Potter) cost around £500. So that gives you an idea of how much £180,000 was.
