daleks 3rd movie

I seem to recall they had plans to make a movie called The Golden Dalek, though must confess that it sounds more like a Sinbad movie

I believe the third movie was supposed to be a remake of "The Chase." I suppose it could have been based on "The Chase," and renamed "The Golden Dalek." I've heard that he third one didn't get made because the first two weren't as successful as hoped, but I'd also read somewhere that they didn't think "The Chase" would have made a good movie.

I love The Chase, but it seems to be very badly thought of by Dr Who experts. There's probably a hint of rose-tinted glasses with me - I saw it on its first run and was thrilled and terrified that my favourite programme featured as guests my favourite monsters - Frankenstein's creature, Dracula...and of course that strange screaming woman.

Decades later I was equally thrilled to find a VHS copy on eBay. I really enjoyed watching it but could see why chin-stroking afficionados would snort with derision at it. The Empire State Building scenes are truly bad, the Daleks are depicted in an almost slapstick style and the inclusion of the monsters is fairly gratuitous. None of that spoiled it for me, though! I would love to have seen a 1960s movie version.

Not a modern version though - Dracula and Frankenstein's creature would probably cry and hug each other if Russell T. Davies had anything to do with it.

I vaguely remember that mooted title too, The Golden Dalek. I think it was intended to cash in on TV21's Golden Emperor, which featured strongly in that publication's Dr Who strip at the time.

Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!

I keep running across references to "THE CHASE"... yet, back in the 90's, I recall reading an article about the films. The next adaptation they had in mind was another Terry Nation serial-- "THE KEYS OF MARINUS". I'd have loved to have seen that! On TV, that was more fun to watch that either of the first 2 Dalek stories.

I know nothing of DOCTOR WHO, but I enjoyed these two Cushing films. I think I prefer the original, but I would have watched a third film if it had been made.
