the record she plays?
Does anyone know the record the girl plays? Is it by Krzysztof Komeda, the fellow who composed the soundtrack or someone else?

shareThe record is music by Komeda, who composed this and most of Polanski's films up to "Rosemary's Baby", after which he suffered an untimely death. (A heart attack, if memory serves.)

You are correct. I'm glad I typed "if memory serves"! Yes, the skiing accident led to a fatal brain injury. My mistake!

Actually, you're both wrong. The fact is: He died several months after injuring his head, which caused a brain haematoma. There are several accounts of the accident and none of them seems to be fully confirmed. However, a skiing accident is not among them. The most often quoted are probably: 1. Polish writer Marek Hlasko carried Komeda on his back in the Hollywood Hills, both men being heavily drunk, and fell over resulting in Komeda tumbling down a hillside, 2. A car accident.
shareYour last reply is correct. You can read all about Komeda at
http://www.clivesworld.demon.co.uk/komeda.htm. I have the soundtrack on vynil and CD. Michael Fishburg sent me a copy before releasing it on CD. I wrote the sleeve notes for the record.
You can get it from Harkit records; http://www.answers.com/topic/cul-de-sac-2004
