Well Done Fun

I hadn't seen it since 1966, when it was double-featured with a re-release of WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? I remembered the gimmick of the Fear Flasher and the Horror Horn, of course, but the main thing I've remembered since 1966 was O'Neal's final impalement. Much of it looks like the TV movie or pilot it was originally intended as, and while Warners owned the story to HOUSE OF WAX and MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM, it would have been nice had they acknowledged them as sources since there were so many echoes of those films. O'Neal was, indeed, delightfully hammy, and when wasn't Wilfred Hyde-White a delight?

I thought the very brief appearance of Tony Curtis as a patron in a brothel was amusing.

It's pretty silly but enjoyable enough. Patrick O'Neal is the best part as the villain.
