What year was this meant to be set in?

Does anybody know what year this film was set in? judging by the motor car it must have been the early 1900's or thereabouts.

reply

As you say it would appear set in the early 1900's or late 1800's.

reply

The only way of dating the setting is by the vehicles used

Bungs car is a 1904 a Brushmobile (I always thought it was a Humber Humberette which is very similar but subtly different car) and the Taxi is a 1906 Renault

Therefore my guess is 1906 exactly 60 years before the release date of the film

I'm glad you've opted for 1906 which is bang in the middle of the Edwardian period (1901 to 1910). As a back up to your vehicle theory check the Edwardian dress image page on Yahoo. The dresses shown on that page are so much like those worn by the ladies in the film. And Peter Butterworth too of course.

or thereabouts.
