SELLERS FINEST

ONE OF SELLER'S FINEST. DR STRANGELOVE AND THE PANTHER FILMS WERE AWESOME, BUT THIS FILM IS ALMOST FORGOTTEN. WHEN HE MEETS TONY POWELL (MATURE) AND TAKES A PHONE CALL IN HIS HOTEL ROOM, PRETENDING IT'S SOPHIA LOREN (SOPHIA, MY DARLING!), IS JUST CLASSIC.

This is one of Sellers' treats. Perfect mock too of pretensions
around film world, esp the Italian idea of how they were world important
in cinema along with USA and France, the real leaders then.
The whole stall part -- priceless. Delicious fun.

thx!

It had to be said!

(We Sellers lovers must give vent to our feelings... and I've just vented!)

I like this film a lot but it's not even close to any of the Pink Panther movies or The Party IMO.

Sellers was a lot more than a comedy actor.

Some of his serious films are very worthy of attention. So, commensurately, was Dr Strangelove, which I think was his best performance (three, actually...).

After The Fox was not a very noteworthy film for any number of reasons. Sellers was probably every bit as manic as he was in Dr Strangelove but he was inconsistent and some of the things he did were just stupid.

While entertaining, chiefly for his part in it, I could never rate it as his best.
