Angel Eyes?

I guess I just wasn't paying attention, but when Tuco and Blondie are in the roll call, Tuco asks Blondie if that was Angel Eyes. How did they know about Angel Eyes at this point? I don't recall them crossing paths, except in the town where he gets on the stage and sees Blondie about to save Tuco but they never talked.

I believe there is an earlier scene where they come across him but this is deleted from most distributed cuts of the film. You can see on the latest Blu Ray release.

No, I just bought that and it's not there.

From the clues we get in the film we can surmise that Angel Eyes is a competent hired gun of some high repute who "always gets the job done" and that he has been in operation in West Texas, Mexico, New Mexico and "Arizona". I include Arizona because it's the most lawless and plausible area where Angel Eyes, Tuco and Blondie would probably have been operating and the most likely area where they would have seen or met up with him prior to the events depicted in GBU. As I mentioned above the "Arizona" section of the New Mexico Territory was the most lawless and remote area in the Southwest at the time, El Paso & Mesilla in the East being slightly more civilized.
