Still, Hollywood missed the boat on that one (and continued "missing the boat" about Oriental ladies for many years). They should have had Anna May Wong play the part. Now SHE was a goddess!

Unfortunately, milady Anna May was born a bit too early. (On the other hand, maybe she was born at exactly the right time, and became the poster-person for letting Orientals, or any people of any persuasion, play themselves. As the reluctant leader of that movement, though, Anna May was doomed to always being not given her natural roles.)
