Widescreen Vs Full Screen

This is a truly great movie. It was filmed in a Widescreen process. However, the 2003 DVD version is only available in Full Screen. This is a travesty. Full Screen, appropriately nicknamed "Pan and Scan", is an abomination. If it was filmed in a Widescreen process, why would anyone with common sense have ever turned it into a Pan & Scan?

Is this version at least in stereo, as Amazon claims it to be? i just recorded this movie this morning when it was broadcast on Turner Classic Movies. They at least had the good sense to show it in its original widescreen Panavision format. If you email me your address, I'll be happy to burn and send you a copy. My address is [email protected]

I love widescreen movies and am amazed when some people (or a lot?) ask for full screen movies!!!! Ugh. Especially those 2:35:1.......

As far as I know this is a mono film.
It is having it's HD widescreen 2:35:1 debut on the Sony Movie channel this month (Sept 2011) and looks wonderful.

The DVD I bought -released in 2003- contains both widescreen and full screen versions.
