Beautiful movie

The story is ridiculously campy and incoherent, but the film itself is very stylish and beautiful.

Agreed. It's an art-film, if by accident.

I especially like the ballet dancer really getting down to her part all alone on the lonely beach. It's not really necessary to the film's story but it is a lovely scene. The setting of the film is both beautiful and creepy at the same time.

i had wanted to see this one for years. only cause it's a Roger Corman film, and i have to admit i enjoyed the hell out of it. i wasn't expecting to either. to be honest. it was filmed pretty damn good actually. it was made well. the acting was something to be desired in some of the actors, but i really enjoyed it. Sid Haig was great in it and i wish he had a bigger part. and it's really strange to see the guy WITH HAIR!

i wonder when he started shaving his head?

reply

It was good to see Sid Haig as one of the beatniks. Good film but a lot things go unexplained in it. According to the imdb cast Sid Haig is supposed to be Ahab the Arab but he never seems to be referred to this name in the film. Whether that name was cut or just left unexplained is difficult to reckon. One of the other topics on this board brings attention to this oversight.

i've Noticed that too. i dunno why no one hasn't just changed his name to Bruno.

it was a better film i think than that (1961) B picture who's name escapes me at the moment. that film was filmed well but it was just to damn confusing!

this one i agree didn't explain everything. but i went in with low expectations well at first, than around at some point i reliazed during the beatnicks scenes that it kinda reminded me of the class (1959) film "A bucket of blood' and that is a compliment in fact. though that one is a far better film well at least i think so anyways.

Creature From the Haunted Sea is the 1961 film you're thinking of I think. That movie was really confusing.

I agree. There was a great horror movie to be made here. Though that didn't happen, there is enough here that's worth checking out (besides some of the young scantily-clad ladies, of course 😁).

No blah, blah, blah!
