Just watched this, definitely a good film with some nice shots and cool donkey story but still bored the crap out of me. It's just too old I guess, acting is so retarted it completely disconnected me from the story on any emotional level.

Besides that it's just not fun to watch, scenes aren't going anywhere, characters are so stupid I forgot most of them already, the only thing holding this together is the donkey, which is actually the only good thing about the film. I did like the ending though, but besides that is absolutely NOT a classic in my opinion, coming from someone who likes art films.

It's because of this the movie is not and should not be in the imdb 250, top 250 is created out of averages, and with this movie probably being enjoyed by just a handfull of people, it has no place there

The story is interesting though and deserves a solid remake with decent acting and production value, maybe even animated, then it would be easier for more people to connect to the story, which has potential to be a real classic

I agree with you, there is no character in the movie, people don't have attitudes, marie, gerard, the alchoholic man, all of them are drasticly stupid and doing nonesense..there is no logic in this film.

Two things are certain: this film involves a donkey, and the OP is a typical American culturally bankrupt ass.

Funny too see insults towards the OP, whenever people can't defend something they will always come to insulting the person for being "too young", "too american", "2DEEP4UKID". It is for sure a below average movie, with nothing much to tell, and wooden acting.

Too Old?

This movie was made in 1966, that is only 50 years ago! It is well into the second half of movie history. Don't watch any movies from the 1890's if you think the 1960's is too old.
