OK, like Balthazar, horror movies like Rosemary's Baby, Nosferatu, Halloween, Suspiria etc. are considered to be really good movies. What I want to know is, when you guys mention movies like Balthazar, do you mention those as well or do you think those are beneath Balthazar?

I don't think they are, sure they're much different than Balthazar, but they're all influential and very good movies, when something is good it's good.

Personally I'd consider Balthazar higher than all those films you mentioned, but it's not due to the fact that they are horror films - it's because Balthazar is a better made film. Those horror films you mentioned are all brilliant and are better than a large number of other films, but Balthazar is an absolute masterpiece (few films are actually better than it).

Nosferatu is the only one I would consider coming close (both murnau's and herzog's)
