Quite Hokey But Quite Entertaining

Hey folks,

Like most other films from my younger days, I have forgotten many of the details of the film. However, I did remember the main plot for this film, and I remembered quite well Anthony Franciosa's pronunciation of his Lieutenant in the American manner rather than that of the English as "Leftenant."

Yes there are big plot holes, but I was still able to overlook them and simply enjoy the ride. Never mind the idea of four folks raising a sub that has been on the ocean floor for over 20 years; the real stretch is believing they could remove all the encrustation from the outside of the hull and have it looking spotless in days or even weeks. I simply do not care about it. It was a fun story, and I enjoyed it as much now as I did nearly 50 years ago.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile

Yes, this was a movie I started watching once without much "hope," if you know what I mean, and after a short while, I really got into it! Not bad at all...

My folks took us kids to the Drive-In when I was 8 to see this. Still remembered the great Duke Ellington score and the plot. Just on TCM the other night. I enjoyed it, flaws & all...

I agree kinda far fetched but I really enjoyed it. Yes they did a great job of getting the sub buffed out and ship shape!
